My Philosophy
All students deserve a caring, compassionate teacher who is considerate of their diverse needs while equitably holding them to high expectations; one who challenges all students to shine their brightest to include students requiring extra support; and one who addresses the desire within all, especially the underserved.
I believe:
-
In learning from my mistakes and starting over with lessons learned.
-
All students can learn when they are accepted for who and where they are in their educational journey.
-
Effective learning requires a collaboration between teacher, students, and parents grounded in mutual respect and trust.
-
Learning takes place in a positive safe environment.
-
In building my students confidence
-
In teaching concepts multiple ways to benefit student learning styles.
-
Positivity is contagious
-
Showing students the importance of GRIT
-
Growth mindset
-
Encouraging creativity and problem solving
My mission is to create a caring, and empathetic group of students, that develop a love of learning that will last a lifetime, and I hope that within each one of them, I can ignite a fire that will inspire them to believe, grow, and seek knowledge to figure out what moves them to make a difference in the world.

My Goals

Lessons
I will structure all my lesson plans based on my students needs and the objective of the lesson. I use a variety of strategies

-
5 E's
-
STEAM
-
Problem Based Learning (PBL)
-
Differentiating instruction
-
Using students multiple intelligences preferences
-
Engagement strategies

Student Motivation
I implement a variety of motivational approaches in my classroom. I provide a daily quote with the goal to embrace positivity, motivate my students, and capture student interest. I choose popsicle sticks or ask for volunteers to read the quote in the morning. After we discuss and reflect as a class “what does this quote mean to you?” and “How can you incorporate this?”
"Everything is impossible until somebody does it." -Batman
I also implement GRIT and growth mindset in my classroom. I always encourage students to do their best “maximum effort.” I incorporate the Power of Yet in my classroom as a way to build my students. I inform my students, "It is okay to make mistakes, it is how we learn." Perseverance is a word we focus on because it can be tempting to give up. We must persevere.
